XM has launched GOLD24 7, a new gold trading instrument that extends access to gold markets across all seven days of the week, including weekends.
The product, introduced through XM’s UAE entity, comes as financial markets increasingly move towards extended trading hours, with market participants seeking greater flexibility to respond to economic and geopolitical developments outside traditional weekday sessions.
XM Expands Gold Market Access
Unlike traditional gold CFDs that operate according to standard market schedules, GOLD24 7 allows clients to trade gold during weekends.
XM said the product is designed to address the reality that market moving developments do not necessarily follow the traditional Monday to Friday trading calendar.
“Markets don’t stop generating news simply because it’s the weekend,” said Stavri Morti, Co CEO at XM.
“Economic data, geopolitical developments and breaking news can all influence market sentiment over the weekend. We introduced GOLD24 7 to give our clients greater flexibility to respond to those developments as they happen, instead of waiting until Monday.”
The new instrument forms part of XM’s broader strategy to expand its product offering and adapt its trading infrastructure to changing market conditions and client expectations.
A Broader Shift Towards 24 Hour Markets
XM’s move comes shortly after CME Group expanded its 1 Ounce Gold futures to a 24/7 trading schedule.
During its first weekend of continuous gold futures trading, CME reported nearly 15,000 contracts, representing approximately $60 million in notional value. The development demonstrated demand for greater access to gold markets outside traditional exchange hours.
The developments point to a broader change in financial markets. Digital platforms have made investors increasingly accustomed to near continuous access, while exchanges and brokers are adapting their infrastructure to accommodate market activity across different time zones.
Why Weekend Gold Trading Matters
Gold is particularly sensitive to global economic and geopolitical developments. Events occurring during weekends can influence market sentiment before traditional markets reopen.
Extended access could therefore allow market participants to respond to developments earlier rather than waiting for the conventional trading week to resume.
However, extended trading does not remove market risk. Trading conditions, liquidity and pricing can vary outside major market sessions, and XM’s own disclosure states that users remain responsible for making independent trading decisions.
XM Builds on Its Gold Trading Focus
XM said it has been active in gold trading for more than 15 years. The company added that its position in the market was reinforced earlier this year during heightened gold market volatility, when it reported uninterrupted trading alongside zero requotes and no rejections.
With GOLD24 7, the broker is extending that offering beyond the traditional trading week and joining a growing movement towards round the clock access to gold markets.
The development will be worth watching as more financial platforms respond to changing expectations around market accessibility and as the industry tests whether seven day trading becomes a lasting feature of the global gold market.
