Kredete Acquires Gravv to Bring Stablecoin Payment Infrastructure In House

Kredete has acquired stablecoin infrastructure company Gravv as the fintech moves to bring more of the technology powering its global money movement operations in house.

The acquisition gives Kredete control over infrastructure connecting banks, blockchain networks and local payment rails, covering areas including stablecoin settlement, multi currency accounts, foreign exchange, liquidity, routing and reconciliation.

Gravv has processed more than $3 billion in annualised volume for more than 1,000 businesses across over 100 countries, with seven global banking partners supporting its infrastructure.

The deal also expands Gravv’s role beyond Kredete’s existing products, with the company opening the infrastructure to banks, fintechs, platforms and developers serving emerging markets.

Kredete moves deeper into the infrastructure layer

Founded in 2022 by Adeola Adedewe, Kredete has built its platform around helping consumers, businesses and financial institutions move, convert, hold and settle money across markets.

The Gravv acquisition takes the company deeper into the infrastructure behind those transactions.

Rather than relying entirely on external providers for the different components involved in cross border money movement, Kredete will now have greater control over the layer connecting clients to banks and payment networks.

That includes stablecoin settlement, liquidity management, FX, payment routing and reconciliation.

For a company operating across emerging markets and diaspora corridors, owning more of this infrastructure could allow Kredete to coordinate different payment rails from a single layer rather than managing a collection of disconnected providers.

Gravv brings stablecoin rails and agentic technology

Gravv’s infrastructure connects multi currency accounts, global payments, card issuance, banking partners, blockchain networks and local payout systems through a single integration.

Its agentic layer is designed to monitor liquidity, select payment routes, manage FX and settlement, and reconcile transactions in real time.

That approach is central to Kredete’s strategy following the acquisition.

Global payments typically require coordination between multiple systems. A transaction can involve a bank, a blockchain network, a liquidity provider and a local payment rail before funds reach their destination.

Kredete is positioning Gravv’s technology as the coordination layer across those systems.

“Infrastructure is the moat, and intelligence is the operating layer. Gravv gives Kredete the stablecoin infrastructure and global rails beneath our consumer and enterprise products, while its agentic capabilities help operate those rails in real time. Together, we are building the autonomous middleware for the global money movement,” said Adedewe.

From payment products to financial infrastructure

The acquisition also changes the potential customer base for Kredete’s infrastructure.

Following the deal, Gravv is being made available to banks, fintechs, platforms and developers serving emerging markets.

This means Kredete is not only using the infrastructure to support its own consumer and enterprise products. It is also positioning the underlying technology as infrastructure that other financial businesses can build on.

That creates a broader infrastructure play around the company’s existing money movement business.

Hakeem Oriola, Chief Technology Officer at Kredete, said global payments involve multiple rails across banking, blockchain, liquidity, compliance and local payout systems.

“Gravv brings those rails into one infrastructure layer, and its agentic capabilities help Kredete route, settle, and reconcile payments in real time,” he said.

AI enters the money movement layer

Kredete is also linking the acquisition to the growing use of AI agents in financial services.

According to Ebuka Arinze, Chief Product Officer at Kredete, the company expects AI agents to play a larger role in initiating and processing commerce.

“We believe the next trillion dollars in commerce will be initiated and processed by AI agents,” Arinze said.

The Gravv infrastructure is therefore being positioned to support transactions where software agents may eventually need to interact with financial systems, rather than limiting the technology to conventional human initiated payments.

For Kredete, that means the acquisition is as much about how payments are operated as it is about where money moves.

Building a coordination layer for emerging markets

The acquisition reflects a broader shift in global payments infrastructure towards connecting different financial systems through software rather than treating each payment corridor as a separate operation.

For emerging markets, where banking infrastructure, payment methods and currency systems can vary significantly between countries, the ability to coordinate different rails is particularly important to the model Kredete is pursuing.

By combining Kredete’s existing financial platform with Gravv’s stablecoin infrastructure, the company is seeking to build a layer capable of managing routing, settlement and reconciliation across those systems.

The immediate focus is on real time global money movement, but the longer term proposition extends to financial institutions and technology companies that need infrastructure to move money across emerging market corridors.

With Gravv now inside Kredete, the company is effectively moving from using financial infrastructure to owning more of the infrastructure that sits underneath its global money movement business.
